Do you own property in the Spokane River watershed with a stream running through it?
If so, we would love to collaborate with you!
The Spokane Salmon Restoration Collaborative (SSRC) is leading an ambitious project to gather critical stream habitat data throughout the Spokane River Watershed. To achieve this, we’re seeking the support of local landowners willing to allow surveys on their property. These surveys will help SSRC assess how to prepare local waterways for the reintroduction of non-Endangered Species Act listed salmon and support the conservation of native redband trout. Specifically, the surveys will measure stream characteristics such as channel dimensions, spawning habitat locations, temperature, and oxygen levels in the water. Surveys are being planned for late spring and summer 2025. After data collection, the Ecosystem Diagnosis and Treatment (EDT) model will be used for analysis. The resulting report will identify factors limiting the survival of salmon and native redband trout in the watershed, as well as highlight the areas most in need of habitat restoration projects.
By joining this effort, you will play a vital role in preparing our waterways for the reintroduction of anadromous species, contributing to the restoration and protection of our region’s ecological balance.
